About Us

The New Church Vol. Fire & Rescue (NCVFR) was founded in Feb. 1946. In the year 2011, NCVFR will be celebrating it's 65th Anniversary.

NCVFR obtains a majority of it's funding from donations and fund raising. A small amount does comes from Accomack County each year. In 2010, NCVFR is working on grant with FEMA for better equipment. However, grants are rarely approved, so donations, no matter what size are important.

NCVFR is one of the few companies left in Accomack County that does not have a full time county duty crew stationed for the first due apparatus. Therefore, when the need is present, volunteers leave their jobs and families (day or night) to respond.

NCVFR is the northern most fire district in Accomack County. Identified as Station #1, NCVFR also regular responds to assist other Accomack County stations, as well as Worcester County (Pocomoke City).
